*PRESS RELEASE* - Stop the Gas Tax Increase

June 23rd, 2022

Today, I joined Yuripzy Morgan, Delegate Brian Chisholm, Delegate Rachel Muñoz , Delegate Ric Metzgar, and some of our colleagues in the Senate at a press conference. We stood on lawyers mall and asked the Senate President and House Speaker to bring the legislature back for a special session to accomplish two goals.

1) Suspend the state’s gas tax.

2) Permanently remove the automatic increase that is tied to the CPI (Consumer Price Index).

Working families are struggling to make ends meet and some are even faced with having to quit their job or go into credit card debt. We, the Maryland Legislature have the ability to act now to offer some relief and put citizens first. All it takes is TWO people, the Senate President and House Speaker to call us legislators back into action.
