Public Safety
Sid has taken a strong stance against the soft-on-crime policies that Annapolis leadership has frequently embraced. Sid opposes letting felons out of jail early and reduced penalties for violent and property crimes. Current law makes it only a misdemeanor to steal a gun. We need to do a better job by holding violent criminals accountable and to keep our communities safe.
We also need genuine-systemic efforts to reduce crime like increasing mental health treatment for our youth and people who need the right treatment at the right time, working with first responders to support those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect their communities, modernize law enforcement, and ensure equal protection under the law for everyone. I believe School Resource Officers play an important role in protecting campuses, fostering a healthy social environment, and helping students build positive relationships with law enforcement.
